It’s Just Us

By |2017-07-13T17:43:58-04:00November 30th, 2010|Education, Community and Leadership, Guest Blogggers & Interviews|

While we don’t always look in the right places, wanting to be happy, safe, healthy, and cared for are part of our common nature. Practicing compassion and generosity can be healing and contagious. Listening to each other allows us an opportunity to connect at a basic human level.

Remembrance Day Surprises

By |2017-07-13T17:43:59-04:00November 12th, 2010|Guest Blogggers & Interviews, Mind, Body & Spirit|

Remembrance Day held many surprises this year. I am normally very aware of the time, 11/11, holding that minute in a precious space of gratitude, as I acknowledge all who gave in service. Always I am aware of the conflict, honouring war; fighting for peace. In truth I have never understood the operating principles of this planet very well, not until now that is.

Causes of the Heart: A Case Study

More and more people are responding to need where they see it. My first experience with these causes of the heart (which Nicholas Kristof recently coined as DIY Foreign Aid) was through the work of my dear friend, Maria Miller, and her friend, Sasha Bilar, who co-founded Toys for Thailand (T4T). T4T provides support for orphaned, abandoned, and refugee Hill Tribe children in remote villages in Northern Thailand.

Time to bring out the voice of our ‘New Self’

By |2017-07-13T17:44:00-04:00June 9th, 2010|Guest Blogggers & Interviews, Mind, Body & Spirit|

The shift from separation into unity consciousness is happening world wide. It is only as we are able to merge our divine and human selves into one voice that our outer authority will change. By doing our own inner work and clearing the “demons” so to speak, we give rise to our higher self and it is able now to speak clearly.

Crisis in Action

Energy Posting by Brenda Harley Gazing out my window and wondering yet again about life and where we are headed, my eyes are drawn to the magnificent pine that sits on the edge of our property. It is well over a hundred years old and I am filled with such gratitude every time I look upon it. Its value lies in its enduring beauty, nothing more. If it were cut down and used to produce something, I’m sure that on some level it would be more valuable. Yet to me, it could not do anything more than BE to make me happy. Its beauty in my life adds value. The sun, continuing to shine down in earthy Taurus, supports this deep connection to nature. Sometimes all we can do is take care of our immediate surroundings and make decisions that respect our values. It is not about anyone else. The moon is waxing into full on the 20th and right now is about half way there in the sign of Virgo, asking us to take [...]

Successful practices of mindful organizations

By |2017-07-13T17:44:01-04:00May 14th, 2010|Career and Business|

Where two or more gather…let them do so with consciousness Version Français I have spent over 25 years working and consulting for all types of organizations – big, small, public, private, for profit and not. One thing I have found to be consistent is a general malaise in these organizations. The unbridled pursuit of profit at any cost has left them with products that are commoditized, employees at the brink of exhaustion and environments and communities close to depletion. Why is this happening? To understand, I removed myself totally from corporate life and gained a new perspective. I left my consulting practice and immersed myself into the mindfulness community. I went inwards using today’s contemplative practices to gain insight.  I have been researching the most successful leaders in consciousness and sustainability looking for the best wisdom teachings. What I found surprised me and gave me hope. […]

Wisdom meets modern technology with a WOW!

By |2017-07-13T17:44:01-04:00May 7th, 2010|Career and Business, Education, Community and Leadership|

I was extremely fortunate to have attended the Wisdom 2.0 Conference in Silicon Valley last weekend. It is the first of its kind, bringing together leaders in new media and technology, like Twitter, Google and Facebook, with spiritual and social consciousness leaders. I first heard about the conference about a month ago from a friend.

Michael Specter: The danger of science denial

By |2017-07-13T17:44:02-04:00April 14th, 2010|Shifting Perspectives|

What do you think? The pendulum has swung. Some, like Michael Specter, may say too far away from science toward the intuitive approach. It is understandable, because our intuition has been silenced for so long. I, like Michael, look forward to the future and think we are in the most exciting time in history. But not only because of the incredible advancements of science, but because I see for the first time in history an opportunity to integrate knowledge, science and technology with intuition, consciousness and spiritual evolution. The Dalai Lama embodies this new direction, embracing all that science and technology have to offer with a deep, inner spiritual practice. Best selling author, Daniel H. Pink, emphasizes the need for a "Whole New Mind" to approach the future, a mind that integrates the best of the left more analytical elements with the right side intuitive brain.  I believe that when we stop debating one approach over the other, and embrace a way forward that integrates both, we will see real advancements on this planet. One of the [...]
